BMW F800 Piston Slap

BMW F800 Piston Slap

Some BMW F800 model motorcycles are really well built, but as with all other bikes they do have one or two common problems. Furthermore the BMW F800 piston slap was a common issue on models pre 2008, but BMW eventually addressed the issue.

The F800 motorcycles models launched was in 2006. Moreover the 2006 and 2007 F800 motorcycles had extensively documentation on the piston slap. Therefor not all F800’s were cursed though, in fact only some high mileage bikes had the slapping piston issue. Rotax ( the engine builders) changed the piston around 2008 and the issue seemed to be resolved.

Although it is assumed that the pistons upgrade remedied the problem, it was never openly admitted by BMW motorcycles.
