@element7us : Check our 749 video…
Yes we do. Check our commercial site.
@themensview : Check it out, we just put up a 749 belt video.
@DucStewie The tension does change. The vertical cylinder is 90 degrees past TDC(fire) so the exhaust valve(s) start opening and will have spring tension against the cam, which will affect belt tension.
@pegaxs We are working on this. Should be this April.
@Fonzz831 We are currently working on this. Should be ready in April.
@Veetluhrk no you do not need to dismount the engine
Many thanks for posting these informative videos!
I’ve got a question though. One does nott actually need to dismount the engine from the chassie for doing this, right?
I’m about to buy a 750 wich will be needing this sort of maintenance soon, and I would of course prefer it if one could do it with the engine where it sits in the frame.
I used a microphone and guitar tuner software to catch the frequency and set tension so the belts are 110 hz.
I use this method for 620, 695, 750, 800, and 900 engines.
When the piston leaves TDC, the cam turns and the closing “helper” springs put force on the belt. This changes how the slack works.
than you.
Thanks a lot !
very helpfull
I assume that when the timing marks are lined up then the horiz cyl is at TDC compression? Why does a cyl need to be at TDC to adj the tension? Why can’t you just put marks on the old belts next to the timing marks, transfer to the new belts and install?
Awesome Vid! Very helpful & informative.
Thanks, this was extremely helpful. I used your video to do my belts and everything went great. I think I spent a good 20 minutes deciding how much force to use on the 5mm and 6mm allen keys.
For the belt tension, can I apply this allen key method also to a 95 750 engine?
Cheers, Chris
Ive heard the newer DS engines have tighter belt tension. Instaed of a 5-6mm allen used for tension a 3-4mm should be used…. Does this sound right? Thanks
Ok…so what’s the point of setting the top cylinder at TDC? The tension on the belts don’t change.
would this work on a 749 as well?
Do you sell Timing Belts
I think it would be useful if you could also zoom on the part measuring the tension with the 5mm allen, to see where to slide it precisely.
Anyway, great series. Thank you very much.
Hello do you know when changing the timing belts on a 999 were the dot’s on the cover’s or do I just use the left side were the gasket is???
Hey will you marry me it’s legal now and I live right up the 405.
